Taking care of lilies is a very good way to have one of the best plants in the world in your garden, with great aesthetics guaranteed and thus achieving a plant in our garden at a low price.

Lilies are a plant that is easy to plant as they are sold ready-made and can actually be planted in your garden. In exchange for planting them correctly, we will have some beautiful flowers, which will also have a great smell.

This is undoubtedly a good way to decorate your garden, since you are going to achieve a garden full of life and a beautiful garden with many beautiful flowers. In addition to that, if it smells good, the effect will be double, and since you will not only have a beautiful garden, but also a garden with a very good smell that will attract all your neighbors.

All this is very beautiful, but lilies have a peculiarity, and that is that they are a living being like any other. By this I mean that a lily must be cared for correctly to avoid its death and to give us all those benefits that I just mentioned.

If we do all this, the lily will have a great aesthetic and will show us beautiful flowers full of life and color. However, lilies have the peculiarity that if they die, they will not give anything and this can happen.

We will have great enemies such as larvae or fungi, which can leave us without flowers this spring. For this reason, we must learn to take care of the lilies and in this way, avoid all these pests and achieve a perfect aesthetic.

If you don’t know how to take care of them and you’ve never done it, nothing happens, since we’re going to teach you how to do it step by step, even if you’ve never planted anything in your life and don’t know anything about gardens.

Instructions for Lilies – care and plant them

  1. Buy and plant: The first thing we should know when caring for lilies is how we should plant them, because if we do it the right way, we are going to get lilies of a much higher quality than if we do not plant them in the correct way. These are sold at the florist and are ready to plant, therefore, we are going to buy them and plant them now, because if it takes too long, they could end up dying permanently. Lilies are a garden plant, as they need space and nutrients to grow, so it is not correct to plant them in a pot. To do this, look for deep soil, since as we will see later, the accumulation of excess water can kill these plants. After this, make a hole and put your lily there. If you plant several, put them apart so they don’t stick together and the ideal season to do it is autumn, so that they are ready for spring without any problem.
  2. Little water: Lilies do not like too much water; however, they are still plants. What I mean by this is that although they do not need much water, they need something not to die of thirst. The way to do all this is to water once a week or so, and always with a small amount. What can harm the lily the most is not the water itself, but rather the stagnant water in the ground and that is why I said about the drainage, because if there is excess water, it could drown. The best way to irrigate is the drip irrigation system, which takes advantage of every drop of water and also achieves significant savings, preventing water from drowning the plant. Water the plant once a week and when you notice that the soil is very dry, never too much to avoid all these major evils. In this way, you will feel how your lily grows big and strong, without any problems later and without drowning, something that, as you have already seen, is easy to happen.
  3. A lot of fertilizer: Although these lilies need very little water to survive, they will need a lot of fertilizer, which makes the lilies have a large amount of nutrients. When the lilies have not bloomed, they need a lot of this fertilizer to be able to do so, so we must apply compost fertilizer every so often, something that will guarantee a correct fertilization of the land. We can also try natural animal manure, although you already know that then the smell will not be too good in your garden. Compost is really enough; all you have to do is pour it at least once a month and preferably every 15 days, because in this way, we will avoid all kinds of major evils that can damage the plant, such as lack of nutrients. . The way to fertilize is simply to add the fertilized soil and mix with the other carefully, trying to impregnate the root of it, but obviously without breaking anything.
  4. Beware of wind and cold: This plant is one of those plants that are prepared for heat and sunlight, although it also likes the shade from time to time. However, what it does not like at all is the wind and especially the cold, since these could literally kill the plants in the blink of an eye. The wind is able to blow away the lilies and kill them, causing them to fly and lose all the flowers. For this reason, you should be careful in winter and cover the lilies with something if it is very windy. As for the cold, it could kill the lilies too, so if you have a garden, try to raise the temperature of it in some way, since it is very susceptible to cold and wind, but if you cover it and raise the temperature, you should not have any problem for the lily to be in perfect condition.
  5. Pests and fungi, finally, we have to face powerful enemy, pests. A plague is a parasitic living being, that is, a living being that is going to attack the lilies with the sole objective of killing them and leaving them dead. . This plant will mainly have two types of pests, both of which can kill them relatively quickly, so you have to be very careful. First of all, we have the Botrytis fungi, a fungus that sticks to the lilies and causes them to have brown spots. These fungi are responsible for the grapes turning into wine, but here they will damage the plant and must be eliminated, something that we will do with a specific product for fungi that we will have to pour on the plant to eliminate them. Later, we are going to have another enemy, the larvae that attack before they bloom. As we have said before, the plant needs a lot of nutrients and for this reason; the larvae will go for them in order to feed. Here we must spray pesticide and make sure they don’t eat it, because if they do, we are going to run out of flowers this year.
